Should “Early Hawkins Lock” be indexed as a story thread?
What the source says
## 1.5.1 Early Hawkins Lock, Family Video, and the Library
* Before Day Zero, Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas are known to Steve and Robin through Family Video, and in the expanded Chapter 2 version, through Family Video when Nancy drops Mike and his friends there and then continues to the library.
* Steve is not connected to the kids only because the plot needs him later. He is already an unofficial older brother, especially to Dustin, and knows their rhythm, nerve, and fears.
* Robin teases the boys and talks about them as if they are a public nuisance, but she also knows them and sees their connection to Steve.
* Nancy knows Robin only at a casual hello-here-and-there level before the collapse, and knows Steve as an ex. She knows Steve and Robin are close, but only in Chapters 3 to 5 does she begin to understand that this is a deep family bond, not just funny work friendship.
* Future Steve/Hawkins flashback chapters must mention this foundation so the connection to Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas feels rooted and not stitched on retroactively.

Should “Kurt Hummel's music-note pin” be indexed as a object?
What the source says
Hummel, who was part of Finn and Rachel's heart on Day Zero and through the first month.
* Kurt Hummel died in chapter 36, during the first month after Day Zero.
* Rachel kept his music-note pin, and Finn kept a small song notebook he and Kurt wrote in together.
* When baby Kurt is born in Part 5, the name must carry the person they lost and the way Finn and Rachel kept living after him.

Should “Robin and Steve's Sign Language” be indexed as a story thread?
What the source says
## 1.5 Robin and Steve's Sign Language
Until Chapter 16, Nancy and Robin believe Steve is dead. This is a hard rule.
Therefore, before Chapter 16, do not write Robin or Nancy as if they consciously hold hope that he is alive. No “if he is alive,” no “if you find this,” no “if you get here,” and no phrasing in which they leave him a route because they think he is an active person moving toward them.
Stages of the language:
1. **Until the Virginia pickup point**
No signs for Steve. There is Karen's letter, a known destination, families, Dustin, and the kids. Robin speaks to Steve as dead, holds the jacket and the wrapper, but leaves nothing outside.
2. **The Virginia pickup point**
This is where the known road breaks. Robin leaves something for Steve for the first time, not because she believes he is alive, but because she cannot keep going without leaving a voice in the place where his road was supposed to end.
3. **After Virginia and until the Shell station**
The old signs belong to Robin alone. They are not a system, not tactics, and not joint work with Nancy. T
#### 7.2.4 Chapters 7 to 16 at the Shell Station
As long as Nancy and Robin are at the Shell station, until the discovery moment in Chapter 16, there are no new signs, no drafts, no code, and no active preparation for a sign system.
Steve remains in mind, voice, jacket, wrapper, memory, and conversations. Robin may talk to him, and Nancy may hold her while she says his name. But there is no new note, no external sign, and no active “sign box” before the discovery that he is alive.

* Beta, Robin's goat, a fixed part of the texture.
* Steve's coffee and sour candy, a fixed emotional line.
* Shoni's and Seth/Summer's boat, a plot anchor for later.
* Princess Sparkle, Summer's chihuahua, is part of the animal, color, nonsense, and life line of Seth/Summer and Shelby/Toni. She is not decoration and is not killed for shock.
* The future camp / city cat is part of the animal and home line, and must be written with body, habits, and location, not only as a cute symbol.
* Central animals are not killed for cheap shock. If an animal is ever injured or dies, that requires an explicit canon decision and real emotional room, not a scene trick.

Vehicles:
Patrol car, middle truck, rescue truck, Waverider, Caskett van, Hawkins van if it survived and enters, and intake vehicles as needed.
Central objects:
Steve's box, Steve's jacket, signs after the return, radio / antenna / Gideon transmission, portable DVD player, projector, small generator, discs, song notebook, Caskett objects, Hawkins objects, Chase objects, medical gear, fire/rescue gear, children's gear.
Animals:
Scout, Beta and Princess Sparkle. Each must have a clear physical location in relevant scenes.
Children and youth:
Theo, Henry, Lily, Jake, Reece, Hawkins group, Molly, Runaways and youth. Every transfer between arms, rooms or supervision must be written physically.
Injuries / body states:
Lexa still carries old sensitivity, but it must not worsen without cause. Ava carries injury memory. Alex has the limp / injured leg from Part 3. Max is injured/recovering. Rachel is pregnant and her body is changing. New injuries only by chapter.

### Chapter 179, Summer’s Farm Gets a Body
**General job:** Make Summer’s legacy physical through animals, food, work, children, grief, and life.
**Connects from 178:** City institutions are growing, but Summer’s farm is still more memory than body.
**Core movement:** A farm-animal convoy arrives: cows, chickens, a pig, and more. Robin appoints herself official namer. Will, Summer’s living memory, Toni, Shelby, Raven, Regina, Piper, Rachel, children, and animals help the farm begin to breathe.
**Must carry:** Animals as food / care / work / smell / chaos. Will’s quiet animal line. Toni and Shelby’s grief. Summer as living legacy.
**Must not do:** Do not treat animals only as a gag. Also, do not kill central animals for shock. Robin may name things terribly, that is different and frankly unavoidable.
**Hands to next chapter:** Farm systems exist more physically. The city is real enough to attract and absorb a small final wave.

## Chapter 179, Summer’s Farm Gets a Body
Status: future planning.
Sequence summary: Ensemble. A farm-animal convoy arrives: cows, chickens, a pig, and more. Robin appoints herself official namer. Will, Summer’s living memory, Toni, Shelby, and the farm named for Summer begin receiving body.
Continuity lock: do not treat animals as a gag only. They are food, work, care, children, grief, and life.
## 5.4 Part 4, The Lake Camp, Chapters 093 to 119
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|
| Main | Lexa, Clarke, Nancy, Robin, Alex, Piper, Emma, Regina |
| Sub-main | Raven, Steve, Anya, Sara, Ava, Finn, Rachel, Henry, Theo, Castle, Kate Beckett, Scout, Beta |
| Secondary | Hawkins kids, Maya, Carina, Nico, Karolina, Gert, Chase, Molly, Alex Wilder, Toni, Shelby, Seth, Summer, Lily, Jake, Reece |
| Event-critical / limited-run secondary | Alex Wilder, if his death or future loss line is being seeded, similar functional category to Octavia |
| Sub-secondary | Gideon/Legends if still mostly signal or longing, families not yet returned, camp citizens, living dead pressure |
Notes:
* The lake camp makes many people feel important, but not everyone becomes sub-main.
* Maya and Carina may rise later depending on how strongly they enter medicine, rescue, and city systems.
* Alex Wilder should not be treated as a stable recurring ensemble pillar if he is planned to die.

The event closes his old world through physical horror and blood before the car / keys / supplies become useful. It does not leave him fine: Chapter 003 must carry functional shock, overprotection, sleep/body disturbance, car/house/tool/injury triggers and at least one delayed rupture through anger, crying or shutdown; Chapter 004 carries quieter integration without erasing the wound. Robin and Nancy support him differently, becoming first family through aftermath rather than only through the killing scene. | Steve centrally; Robin and Nancy differently |

| Octavia Blake | Event-critical / legacy secondary | Important through Clarke, Raven, memory, loss, and past trauma. Not a stable city pillar unless changed later. |
| Alex Wilder | Event-critical / limited-run secondary | Similar functional category to Octavia. His death matters, especially for Nico, Karolina, Molly, and the Runaways layer. Not a regular recurring secondary. |
| Nate Heywood | Event-critical secondary | Death or loss can carry Legends grief and city cost. |
| Zane Donovan | Event-critical secondary | Infrastructure/science loss if killed, should matter beyond shock. |
| Costia | Legacy secondary | Foundational to Lexa, not a present-time living arc, but emotionally structural. |
| Ted Wheeler | Legacy / sub-secondary | Dead family weight, especially for Nancy/Karen/Holly. |

## Kurt name lock, Part 5 payoff
* Kurt's name is not a cute baby-name choice and not only an external Glee homage.
* Baby Kurt is named for Kurt Hummel, who was part of Finn and Rachel's heart on Day Zero and through the first month.

Every death must build something, break something, or change an institution, and must not be a dramatic checkbox.
Every row also creates a continuing aftermath obligation: individual reactions, delayed recurrence, triggers, relationship / role changes, and later integration must be tracked in the relevant Part file and chapter logic map.
| Character | Part / Working Chapter | Death Type | What the Death Builds / Breaks | Especially Affected |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Costia | First week of the apocalypse, before Part 1 | Locked past | Lexa's foundational fracture and the fear of love that requires killing to save | Lexa, later Clexa |
| Thea, Theo's biological mother | Part 2, end of Chapter 31, around Month 9 after Day Zero | Birth complication, no bite | Gives birth to Theo on the page, does not manage to name him, and through her license remains a future picture for Theo. Her death forces Alex and Piper to choose him from the first moment | Alex, Piper, Theo |
| Steve's parents | Part 1, Chapter 002; aftermath active t
## 4.3 Event-Critical and Limited-Run Secondary Layer
These characters may not remain long-term pillars, but they matter because their choices, deaths, or absences reshape other arcs.
| Character | Classification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Octavia Blake | Event-critical / legacy secondary | Important through Clarke, Raven, memory, loss, and past trauma. Not a stable city pillar unless changed later. |
| Alex Wilder | Event-critical / limited-run secondary | Similar functional category to Octavia. His death matters, especially for Nico, Karolina, Molly, and the Runaways layer. Not a regular recurring secondary. |
| Nate Heywood | Event-critical secondary | Death or loss can carry Legends grief and city cost. |
| Zane Donovan | Event-critical secondary | Infrastructure/science loss if killed, should matter beyond shock. |
| Costia | Legacy secondary | Foundational to Lexa, not a present-time living arc, but emotionally structural. |
| Ted Wheeler | Legacy / sub-secondary | Dead family weight, especially for Nancy/Karen/Holly. |
| Martha and Jim | Legacy / sub-secondary | Caskett famil

It opens during the unfinished battle for the base, then moves from shock, wounded bodies, and the dead into the building of a real city.
