This file documents the current pre-writing phase, the work method chosen in the July 2026 planning chat, and the decisions that were made there so future Part chats can continue cleanly.

This file does not replace the story canon inside 05_canon_ledger_and_word_count_audit.md, 06_saga_parts_chapter_summaries_and_bridge.md, or the Part files 10 through 16. Story decisions from this chat must live inside the relevant source-truth story files. This handoff file holds the workflow and phase memory.
