7.2.6 Chapter 16 and After

In Chapter 16, Clarke reveals to Nancy and Robin that Steve is alive. From that moment, the language may change, but there is still no new external sign as long as the group is at the Shell station.

In Chapters 16 to 26 there is understanding, guilt, conversation, retrospective mapping of the old signs, and the realization that Robin's old language is too visible and dangerous. The new system is not fully born before the crisis of Chapter 27.

The first new external sign after the knowledge that Steve is alive is placed only in Chapter 27, during the departure. It is created after Robin understands that one of her old signs led living people to the station, after Lexa comforts her, and after a conversation with Nancy where Robin asks if she is angry at her. From there the new language is born through Robin, Nancy, and Raven together.
