9.5 Chapters 85-86, Layla

Layla enters the Steve / Anya / Hawkins line in Chapter 85, at the rural church after the service station from Chapter 60.
Layla is a living woman, survivor, armed, independent, with field ability and risk-reading. She is not revealed only as a shadow, but actively joins Steve and Hawkins' route.
Layla is a future romantic line for Steve, but in Chapters 85-86 this is locked as beginning, friction, action, initial trust, and quiet beside pain, not as an official couple and not as full falling in love.
At the end of Chapter 86, Layla is alive, traveling with Steve, Anya, and the Hawkins group, and continuing with them “for now”.
Layla knows part of the water-line routes, but her full past, family, and losses are not locked in these chapters.
Layla's entrance does not change Jonathan's death, Mr. Sinclair's death, Karen and Holly's status, or the delayed reunion in Part 4.
