3.7 Vauseman Family Contact and Absence Lock

Cal, Neri, and Piper's parents are outside the United States / in another country when Day Zero happens.

During the early partial-infrastructure window, Piper manages one brief phone contact and one or two short text / message exchanges with them before the old communication systems break.

Cal and Neri survive at least until Part 7 in another survivor community. Piper's parents die during the saga, but Piper only learns this if the future survivor-community/radio-relay logic allows Cal, Neri, or a carried message to reach her.

Polly and Larry are background absence only. They are not active arcs unless Git explicitly changes that later.

No additional Piper sibling is active in Apocalypse, Now.

Diane, Alex's mother, died long before the apocalypse as part of Alex's emotional baseline. Diane is not an apocalypse absence, communication line, or future return. She exists through Alex's memory and through the Theo/Thea naming wound.
