Character structure and summaries

The Hawkins Group

• Steve, Mike, Max, Eleven, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Erica, and Anya.
• They are not “another group,” but a layer of youth / siblings / survivors with their own language.
• They have their own griefs, their own hierarchy, and their own way of assimilating into the city.
• Their flashback/route must hold the actual Hawkins split: Karen, Joyce, Lucas's mother, Dustin's grandmother, and Holly were in a field/supply/growing area outside the main camp; the children were inside the camp; the fathers were inside the camp/internal work area; a flood of living dead split the groups. Ted and Lucas's father die. The mothers, Holly, and Dustin's grandmother survive with a small base-survivor/military group and return in Part 6.
• The children with Steve and Anya are Mike, Dustin, Will, Lucas, Erica, Max, and Eleven. Erica is already with the children and does not return with the Part 6 women/grandmother wave.
• Dustin: young technology genius, radio, wiring, repairs, improvised devices. Later he bonds with Robin, Raven, and Finn; his grandmother's Part 6 return is a payoff, not a replacement for those bonds.
• Will: emotional and environmental intuition, quiet, picking up fears, and active love for animals. Animals are drawn to him. Later he connects with Ava/Sara and returns to Joyce without erasing that found-family line.
• Mike: natural leadership, responsibility, and the strongest connection point to Nancy. After the reunion, he and Nancy do not want to let each other go until Karen and Holly are found.
• Lucas: physical fitness, defense, movement, and responsibility around Max and his father. He loses his father, is separated from his mother, and therefore resists replacement-parent dynamics; Anya is a hard mentor, not a soft adoption.
• Max: high street smarts, bite, survival, and a wound that refuses pity. She remains active in the child journey, around Lucas, and later Alex/Piper become a rough-edged informal family anchor for her.
• Eleven: no powers. She is on the spectrum / autistic-coded, very intelligent, and has sharp sensory, spatial, material, and pattern-based perception. Adults must learn to listen to her without turning her into a tool.
• Erica: sharpness, control, and a young voice that does not waste words. Do not give her lines only for sass.
• Anya does not become their mother and does not melt because of them, but she recognizes that they are already a group with discipline and wounds. That is what makes her stay on their line.
