In an apocalyptic saga, Ray serves as a tech anchor, a constant optimist, and an emotional opener of doors that other characters cannot crack. His technical role complements Raven's in interesting ways — both engineers, but different temperaments.

Working sentence: Ray Palmer is the genius who believes in people even when they've stopped believing in themselves, and the apocalypse needs him precisely because of that, not in spite of it.
