In canon, Robin and Nancy are not an official couple. They take a fast but very rich path of friction, testing, mutual recognition, trust, partnership under pressure, and emotional intimacy that reads larger than their screen time. In season 4 they shift from a pair that doesn't really tolerate each other to a pair of investigators who work brilliantly together, rescue each other, and build an inside language. [2][3][4]

In the fandom, Ronance is one of the largest Stranger Things ships. Fanlore notes that as of late May 2024 it was the fourth-largest ship in the fandom on AO3, and the largest femslash. Fanlore also notes its popularity exploded in particular after season 4. [7]

If you need a single sentence for writing: Robin/Nancy works because it is a dynamic of order versus chaos, control versus overflow, someone who talks too fast against someone who feels too fast but says little, and both of them smart, brave, and slightly dangerous when they care.
