7. Friends, allies, and enemies

Henry Mills: The central axis of the couple. Without Henry, no Swan Queen. He's the child because of whom they meet, fight, change, and learn to function as family. [SQ1][SQ2][SQ3]

Snow White / Mary Margaret + David / Charming: They are Emma's family, and Regina's traumatic past. Every interaction between them brings into Emma and Regina's relationship another layer of forgiveness, guilt, and loyalty. [SQ1][SQ2]

Hook: Very important presence for understanding Swan Queen, both because he is Emma's canonical endgame and because the fandom uses him as a comparison line between canonical love and another emotional bond. [SQ1][SQ8]

Robin Hood: Parallel with Regina — real canonical love, but also a presence that sharpens the fandom's reading of Swan Queen. [SQ2][SQ7]

Cora, Zelena, Rumple: Each of these characters sharpens Regina's wound, her need for control, and her fear of opening up. Emma enters that system and forces a different movement. [SQ2]
