5. Essential Avalance beats

1. The scars scene. The first time Ava sees them, or the first time she touches them. She doesn't ask. She doesn't pull back. This is the fic's emotional climax, even if it's in chapter two.
2. The "you made yourself" reassurance. Ava's clone identity crisis, and Sara being the person who cuts through it. Not with speeches — with the specific certainty of someone who has looked at enough fake things to know real.
3. Sara admitting she's struggling. Not acting on it — admitting it. This happens exactly once in a fic. It lands with the weight of everything that didn't happen before it.
4. The found family bearing witness. The Legends see Avalance more clearly than Avalance sees themselves. Mick's bluntness, Gideon's observations, Zari's one devastating sentence. The crew is the chorus.
5. Ava's first nightmare. In post-canon domestic fic: after all the adapting Ava does to Sara's trauma and nightmares, the fic waits for the one that is Ava's own. This is always a reveal. Sara being the one to hold her through it is the equalization.
6. Quentin Lance's name in the room. At some point in any long Avalance fic, Sara says something about her dad. She doesn't elaborate. Ava says nothing. The reader holds it.
7. The Time Courier as the relationship's physical object. Like the key ring for Vauseman, the Time Courier in Avalance fic signifies access, trust, and the willingness to find each other across time. Ava leaving Sara a Time Courier is a love declaration. Sara using it is the return one.
8. Something beautiful getting made from chaos. Because the Waverider runs on chaos and Ava hates chaos, there is always a moment where the chaos produces something that Ava would never have planned and that is also exactly right. She notices it. She doesn't say anything. But she noticed.
