Lexa as a soft teddy bear from page one. The softening is the story. If she melts in chapter 1, the arc dies.
Clarke as a victim throughout the fic. She errs, rescues Lexa as often as she's rescued, is active in her sexuality. The dynamic must equalize.
Killing Lexa. The cardinal sin of the fandom.
Costia as a flat comic-book villain. She isn't generic-evil — she's the proof that Lexa loved and lost.
Forgetting that Trigedasleng exists. Even in modern AU, one expression.
Anya as a plot device. She has her own life, her own wounds, her own possible romance.
Resolving slow-burn too early. A first kiss in chapter 3 of a 20-chapter fic kills the engine.
Sex without consequence. A sex scene that doesn't change the emotional state of the relationship is a waste.
Lexa as a stoic without a face. She has feelings — she just holds them tight. The POV has to let the reader feel what she's holding.
Clarke betraying Lexa after they're established. Drama before they're together — fine. Betrayal after — not in this fandom.
Abby Griffin as a villain. Controlling, worried — not evil. She must have her own pain.
