If we need one sentence on Steve: Steve Harrington starts as the beautiful, ostensibly shallow high-school king, but becomes across the show one of the most protective, brave, and emotionally effective characters in the Stranger Things world. He learns to leave the image of "the popular kid" for something much more interesting — field fighter with a caretaker's heart, wounded ego, and a constant tendency to put himself between danger and people smaller than him.

In the official canon of the final season, Netflix continues to define him as "the ultimate babysitter," and emphasizes that in season 5 his relationship with Dustin is at the front, while the whole group operates as a single unit in the final war. [1]

If we need one sentence for writing: Steve works best when we remember he isn't only beautiful, only funny, and only protective — he's a person who used to be a boy accustomed to receiving love easily, and then discovered that what really defines him is what he does when he stops being at the center and starts protecting others.
