Max Mayfield is one of the most powerful characters in the later seasons, a girl built on toughness, sarcasm, and very real pain that becomes more central across the show. She joins the Party in season 2, becomes Lucas's girlfriend, becomes El's central friend, copes with her brother Billy's death, and reaches the famous Vecna confrontation in season 4 with one of the show's most beloved scenes — the "Running Up That Hill" sequence.
