Chapter 013, What the Road Took

Chapter job: Build Clarke and Raven as a pre-existing bond before and after Day Zero, then use Octavia as loved pain that shapes them without becoming the whole point.

Physical frame: Clarke / Raven / Octavia on the road, with pre-collapse Clarke and Raven background folded in.

Emotional spine: Clarke and Raven knew each other before the apocalypse. Finn's betrayal with Raven matters, but by the end Clarke gains Raven as something deeper than that old wound.

Living-world realism: The road must include living dead, living people, possible avoided contact, blocked routes, damaged vehicles, and choices that make travel toward Abby / Virginia plausible without making Virginia a magical destination.

Carry forward: Octavia is loved and alive enough to hurt, but the reader should not be asked to attach to her as a long-term center. Abby is unknown after Clarke speaks to her or has limited contact, which can help explain the direction of travel.

Must preserve: Raven's core attachments are Clarke and her mother. Octavia shapes Clarke and Raven, then becomes grief.
